FAQ CATEGORY

Membership & Joining

Trial classes, registration, family applications, approval and Student IDs.
01 Can someone with no karate experience join DKA?
Yes. Complete beginners are welcome. Training starts with stance, balance, etiquette, basic movement and safe conditioning before progressing to demanding techniques.
02 Who can apply for DKA membership?
Children, teenagers and adults may apply, subject to the suitability of the available programme, batch capacity and academy approval. A parent or legal guardian must complete the process for a minor.
03 Should I attend a trial class before registering?
A trial or introductory class is recommended whenever available. It helps the student understand the teaching style, class discipline and physical demands before requesting membership.
04 How do I submit a membership application?
Use the DKA Membership Registration form. Complete the guardian, address, emergency, student, medical and consent information, verify WhatsApp and email, and submit it for academy review.
05 Why must both WhatsApp and email be verified?
The verified WhatsApp number is the primary channel for urgent updates, invoices and reminders. The verified email supports account access, notices and private result verification. Dual verification reduces incorrect and duplicate records.
06 Can I register siblings in one application?
Yes. Use Add Another Student in the membership form. Shared guardian, contact, address and emergency information is entered once, while each student receives an individual profile and Student ID.
07 Which details are required during registration?
The form asks for guardian and contact details, residential address, emergency contact, student name, date of birth, requested start date, dojo or training location, training mode, current belt, gender, blood group, school or college, medical information, previous martial-arts experience and consent.
08 Why are blood group and emergency details required?
They support the student profile, emergency response and ID-card record. Please provide accurate information and update the academy immediately whenever medical or emergency-contact information changes.
09 Is a Student ID required before applying?
No. Existing students may enter their known Student ID. New students can leave it blank; a unique DKA Student ID is assigned or linked after verification and approval.
10 What photograph should be uploaded for the ID card?
Upload a recent vertical portrait against a plain light background, preferably in a clean Karate Gi. The face and shoulders must be clear. Avoid group photos, screenshots, filters, hats or sunglasses.
11 Does submitting the form guarantee membership?
No. Submission creates an application for review. Membership becomes active only after the academy verifies the information, confirms the appropriate class or batch and approves the application.
12 What happens after my application is approved?
The academy creates or links the family and student records, confirms the class allocation and provides access instructions where applicable. ID-card production may remain pending until a suitable photograph and all required information are available.

FAQ CATEGORY

Karate & Training Levels

What students learn from their first class through advanced and Dan-grade training.
01 Which style of karate does DKA teach?
Das Karate Academy teaches Kyokushin-based full-contact karate within the World So-Kyokushin tradition, with emphasis on discipline, strong basics, fitness, kata, controlled partner work and character.
02 What do beginners learn first?
Beginners learn dojo etiquette, safe posture, basic stances, punches, blocks, kicks, movement, breathing, coordination and simple fitness. Accuracy and control come before speed or power.
03 What are Kihon, Kata and Kumite?
Kihon means fundamental techniques, Kata means formal sequences that develop technique and concentration, and Kumite means partner or fighting practice conducted according to the student’s level and safety rules.
04 How does training change from beginner to intermediate level?
Intermediate students refine combinations, footwork, stamina, flexibility, kata, timing and controlled partner drills. Expectations for consistency, technical precision and personal discipline gradually increase.
05 What is included in advanced training?
Advanced training may include demanding conditioning, complex combinations and kata, tactical kumite, bunkai or application study, competition preparation, leadership, teaching assistance and supervised breaking practice.
06 Do I need to be fit or flexible before joining?
No. Fitness and flexibility are developed progressively. Inform the instructor about limitations and work within the prescribed level instead of comparing yourself with experienced students.
07 Will a beginner be asked to fight immediately?
No. Partner work is introduced gradually. Students first learn movement, control, defence and safety. The instructor decides when a student is ready for contact work and what protective equipment is required.
08 Is tournament participation compulsory?
No. Competition can accelerate learning and confidence, but participation depends on readiness, interest, eligibility and instructor approval. Regular students can progress without entering every tournament.
09 How often should a student practise?
Attend the assigned classes consistently and repeat safe basics at home when instructed. Short, regular practice is normally more effective than occasional intensive practice.
10 Can students practise techniques at home?
Yes, but only low-risk basics in a clear area. Contact drills, throws, breaking and advanced conditioning require qualified supervision. Children must not practise dangerous techniques on siblings or friends.
11 What qualities are expected from senior students?
Senior students are expected to demonstrate humility, reliability, self-control, respect, safe technique and support for juniors. Belt colour does not excuse poor conduct.
12 Does receiving a belt mean the learning for that level is finished?
No. A belt records a stage of progress, not mastery. Students continue refining earlier techniques while preparing for the responsibilities and syllabus of the next level.

FAQ CATEGORY

Classes & Scheduling

Locations, batches, punctuality, holidays, transfers and class expectations.
01 Where does DKA conduct classes?
DKA operates physical dojo or partner-location classes in Bengaluru and also provides selected online training. Current locations may include DKA, JGA, JPN, PHA, SDA, APR and WSL classes. Confirm the latest location and timetable before attending.
02 Where can I find the current class timings?
Use the latest academy timetable or the class allocation confirmed by DKA. Timings can change because of venue requirements, holidays, examinations or special events, so an old message or screenshot should not be treated as final.
03 How is a student assigned to a class or batch?
The academy considers age, experience, grade, location, capacity and training needs. Attendance is linked to the exact recurring schedule or batch assigned to the student.
04 Can a student attend a different batch or dojo?
Only with prior instructor or academy approval. A temporary make-up class does not automatically transfer the student’s regular schedule.
05 Can a student train in both physical and online classes?
Yes, when the approved training mode or schedule supports hybrid participation. The academy will confirm which sessions are part of the student’s regular programme.
06 How early should students arrive?
Aim to arrive 10–15 minutes before class so the student can change, organise equipment and be ready at the scheduled start time.
07 What should a student do when arriving late?
Enter quietly, wait at the designated place and ask the instructor’s permission before joining. Repeated lateness affects preparation, safety and attendance records.
08 What happens on public holidays or venue closures?
Classes operate only when confirmed by the academy or instructor. Check the latest official message before travelling. A venue closure may require cancellation, an alternative class or an online session.
09 What happens if DKA cancels a class?
The academy will communicate the cancellation and, where practical, provide a replacement, alternative or make-up instruction. An academy-cancelled session should not be treated as a student absence.
10 Can parents remain inside the training area?
This depends on the venue and instructor. Where observation is permitted, parents must remain quiet, avoid coaching from the side and follow venue rules.
11 How do I request a permanent schedule or dojo change?
Contact the academy before moving. The new batch must be approved and the student’s schedule assignment updated so attendance, communication and billing remain correct.

FAQ CATEGORY

Uniform, Equipment & Safety

Karate Gi, protective equipment, hygiene, medical information and injury handling.
01 What should I wear for a trial class?
Wear modest, comfortable sports clothing without zips, jewellery or hard accessories. The instructor will explain when an approved Karate Gi is required.
02 What is the standard DKA uniform?
Students should wear a clean white Karate Gi with the approved Kyokushin Kanji and DKA identification placed according to academy instructions. Unapproved patches or altered uniforms should not be used in official training or events.
03 Should the Gi and belt be kept clean?
Yes. Bring a clean, dry Gi and correctly tied belt. Regular hygiene protects training partners and reflects dojo discipline.
04 Is protective equipment required?
Protective equipment depends on age, level, drill and event rules. The instructor may require items such as hand, shin, groin, chest, head or mouth protection. Use only correctly sized equipment in safe condition.
05 Do students train barefoot?
Karate is normally practised barefoot on the training surface. Footwear may be required outside the dojo or where a medical or venue-specific exception has been approved.
06 What personal hygiene is expected?
Keep fingernails and toenails short, remove jewellery and watches, cover safe minor cuts, tie back long hair and avoid training when contagious. Bring a towel where appropriate.
07 Can jewellery, watches or fitness devices be worn?
No hard jewellery or watches should be worn during normal training because they can injure the student or a partner. Ask the instructor if a medically necessary device is required.
08 Must medical conditions and allergies be disclosed?
Yes. Parents and adult students must disclose relevant injuries, asthma, allergies, medication or other conditions before training and update DKA whenever the information changes.
09 What should happen if a student is injured?
Stop training and inform the instructor immediately. Seek appropriate medical care when needed. Return to full activity only when safe, following medical and instructor guidance.
10 Can a student train while unwell?
Students with fever, contagious illness, vomiting, significant pain or medical restriction should rest and notify the academy. Do not hide symptoms merely to preserve attendance.
11 Should students bring water or food?
Bring a clearly labelled water bottle. Follow the instructor’s hydration breaks. Avoid a heavy meal immediately before class; individual medical or nutrition needs remain the family’s responsibility.

FAQ CATEGORY

Fees & Payment Policy

Training fees, invoices, due dates, refunds, leave, receipts and additional charges.
01 How much are the membership and training fees?
Fees depend on the programme, training location, schedule and approved plan. The current written quotation or invoice issued by DKA is authoritative; website examples and older messages may be outdated.
02 When must fees be paid?
Pay by the due date shown on the invoice or official payment notice. Contact the academy before the due date if clarification is required.
03 How are recurring training fees billed?
Recurring training fees may be issued through the academy’s billing system according to the approved cycle. The invoice identifies the student or family, billing period, amount, due date and payment status.
04 Which payment methods are accepted?
Use only payment methods authorised by DKA, such as the official online payment link, bank or UPI instructions, or an approved direct payment method. Never transfer money to an unverified personal request.
05 Will I receive a receipt or confirmation?
Digital payments normally generate a payment record or confirmation after successful reconciliation. For an authorised direct payment, keep the reference and request confirmation if it does not appear in your account.
06 Are training fees reduced for classes a student misses?
Training fees reserve the student’s place, programme and instruction and are not automatically reduced for personal absence. Any exceptional adjustment requires prior written academy approval.
07 Can membership or billing be paused during extended leave?
Submit the request before the leave begins. Approval, effective dates and any fee treatment depend on the circumstances, billing cycle and academy policy. Silence or non-attendance does not automatically pause billing.
08 What happens when an invoice becomes overdue?
The account may show an outstanding balance and receive reminders. Continued non-payment can affect class participation, event registration, grading processing or member services until the account is resolved.
09 Does DKA charge a fixed late fee?
Any late charge or consequence must be stated in the applicable invoice, written policy or notice. Do not assume a charge that is not shown; contact the academy if an overdue total is unclear.
10 Are paid training fees refundable?
Refund eligibility depends on the fee type, service already provided and reason for cancellation. Fees are not automatically refundable after a programme period begins. Duplicate or demonstrably incorrect payments will be reviewed and corrected.
11 What if I accidentally pay twice or use the wrong amount?
Do not initiate a chargeback without contacting DKA. Send the student name, invoice number, payment date, amount and transaction reference so the academy can reconcile, adjust or refund the verified excess.
12 Are grading, tournament, seminar, uniform and equipment charges included in training fees?
Normally these are separate because they relate to optional or individually scheduled services and products. The relevant registration page, product page, event notice or invoice will state the applicable amount.
13 Are grading and event fees the same every time?
No. Fees can vary according to the grading level, event organiser, number of categories, venue and included services. Always use the amount displayed for the specific registration.
14 Are sibling or family discounts automatic?
No discount should be assumed unless it is explicitly approved and shown on the invoice or written offer. Contact DKA before payment if an expected adjustment is missing.

FAQ CATEGORY

Attendance & Make-up Classes

Attendance statuses, percentages, late and excused classes, corrections and make-ups.
01 How is attendance recorded?
The authorised instructor opens the roster for the scheduled class and records every assigned student. Sessions must be saved and completed for the final record to be included correctly.
02 Which attendance statuses does DKA use?
Present, Absent, Late and Excused. Notes may be added when clarification is needed.
03 Does Late count as attendance?
Yes. A Late status records that the student attended, while still identifying punctuality concerns. Repeated lateness can affect readiness and instructor assessment.
04 How is Excused treated in the percentage?
An approved Excused session is excluded from the attendance-percentage denominator. It is not the same as Present and should be used only when the absence qualifies for excusal.
05 How is the attendance percentage calculated?
The system uses completed eligible sessions for that student and schedule. Present and Late earn attendance credit, Absent does not, and Excused is excluded from the denominator.
06 Why is attendance important for grading?
Regular attendance supports technical progress, fitness, safety and instructor observation. Each grading level or event may require a minimum attendance percentage in addition to the waiting period and technical readiness.
07 Can a student take a make-up class?
A make-up may be permitted with prior approval and suitable capacity. The instructor can add the approved student to the relevant class roster. It is not an automatic entitlement or permanent batch transfer.
08 Can students attend another class without informing DKA?
No. Unplanned attendance may produce an incorrect roster, capacity or safety issue. Obtain approval so the student can be added correctly as a make-up participant.
09 What if attendance was recorded incorrectly?
Notify the academy promptly with the student name, Student ID if known, class date, location and correct status. Only authorised personnel may amend the official record.
10 Does an academy-cancelled class count as absence?
No. A session that was not conducted should not be counted as an attended or missed class. The academy may correct the session record if a cancellation was entered incorrectly.
11 Is attendance recorded for online classes?
Yes, when the online session is an approved scheduled class. The student must join on time, remain visible when requested and participate sufficiently for the instructor to confirm attendance.
12 Can attendance be marked before the class date?
No. Future rosters may be prepared, but attendance controls remain locked until the actual class date. This prevents accidental future records.
13 What happens when an instructor has poor internet?
An authorised attendance device may prepare the roster for offline use, record the class locally and sync when internet returns. Device authorisation and the offline PIN are for approved instructors only.

FAQ CATEGORY

Grading, Belts & Promotion

Eligibility, attendance, waiting periods, registration, results and advanced grades.
01 What is a karate grading?
A grading is a formal assessment of the syllabus, technique, fitness, spirit, discipline and readiness required for the next level. It is not merely attendance at an event.
02 How does a student become eligible?
Eligibility can consider the current grade, minimum completed training period, attendance requirement, available records, registration window, instructor assessment, conduct and any event-specific requirements.
03 Does the dashboard eligibility result guarantee promotion?
No. The dashboard is a rules-based readiness indicator. The instructor and grading panel make the final assessment, and the student must successfully complete the examination.
04 Why does the system show Pending eligibility?
Pending normally means required data, training time, attendance, approval or another condition is incomplete. The displayed reason should guide the next action.
05 Can an instructor approve an eligibility exception?
An authorised academy administrator may record an eligibility override for a justified case. An override allows registration review; it does not guarantee that the student will pass.
06 Is there a minimum attendance requirement?
Yes, where specified for the grade or event. The required percentage can vary, so use the value displayed for the particular grading rather than an old general figure.
07 Is there a minimum waiting or training period?
Yes. Students must complete the required time at their current grade. The calculation uses the official current-grade date and the grading event or cut-off date.
08 How do I register for an upcoming grading?
Use the official grading registration link while the window is open. Verify the student, review eligibility, complete the required form and follow the stated payment instructions.
09 Is the grading fee separate from regular training fees?
Yes, unless an official notice explicitly says otherwise. The grading fee covers the specific examination and related administration or materials described for that event.
10 Does paying the grading fee guarantee eligibility or a pass?
No. Payment does not replace attendance, waiting-period, technical, conduct or examination requirements. Incorrect or ineligible registrations may require administrative review.
11 What if a registered student misses the grading?
Notify DKA immediately. Transfer, credit or refund is not automatic and depends on the event commitments, timing, reason and written academy decision.
12 What happens if a student is not ready or does not pass?
The result may remain at the current grade, be deferred or require further training. The instructor will identify the areas to improve before the next suitable opportunity.
13 Can a student receive a double promotion?
Double promotion is exceptional, never automatic and requires explicit academy approval. The specifically permitted DKA cases are White Belt to Orange Senior and 10th Kyu Orange Belt to 8th Kyu Blue Belt, subject to the student clearly demonstrating the required higher standard.
14 What happens after 1st Kyu Brown Senior Belt?
DKA uses a separate Black Belt probation level before 1st Dan (Shodan). This stage develops the consistency, maturity and advanced standard expected before an international Dan grade.
15 How long is the Black Belt probation before 1st Dan?
The confirmed minimum waiting period from Black Belt probation to 1st Dan (Shodan) is 12 months, together with attendance, technical readiness and all other grading requirements.
16 What are the Dan-grade waiting periods?
The confirmed minimum progression includes 2 years from 1st Dan (Shodan) to 2nd Dan (Nidan), and 3 years from 2nd Dan to eligibility for 3rd Dan (Sandan). Higher grades follow the applicable organisation and academy rules.
17 Is Tameshiwari required?
Breaking requirements depend on grade and the specific grading notice. Brown Belt and above candidates may be instructed to prepare approved tiles or breaking boards. Breaking must never be practised without qualified supervision.
18 When and how are grading results published?
Results are published only after the academy finalises them. Use the official private result lookup or authenticated portal where provided; do not rely on unofficial group messages.

FAQ CATEGORY

Events, Seminars & Tournaments

Registration, categories, payment, confirmation, withdrawal and volunteering.
01 What types of events does DKA organise or attend?
Activities may include grading examinations, special training, seminars, camps, demonstrations, academy tournaments and external district, state, national or international competitions.
02 How will members learn about an event?
Eligible families may see announcements through the DKA portal, website, verified WhatsApp groups, email or instructor communication. Always use the latest official notice.
03 How do I register a student for an event?
Open the relevant event in the parent portal or official registration page, select the eligible student, complete the requested information and follow the payment and confirmation steps before the deadline.
04 Are event fees fixed?
No. Each event can have its own fee based on organiser, venue, categories, services and deadlines. Use the amount attached to that exact event.
05 Does successful payment mean the tournament entry is confirmed?
Not necessarily. Payment may change the status to paid while final entry remains subject to academy or organiser confirmation, document checks, category approval and eligibility.
06 Which competition categories are commonly used?
DKA events may include Kata, Kumite and Sumo Wrestling. Some national or international events may offer only Kata and Kumite.
07 How are Kata, Kumite and Sumo divisions formed?
Kata is generally divided by age and belt or skill, without a gender division in the DKA structure. Kumite and Sumo commonly use gender, age and weight. The organiser’s published rules are final.
08 Which age divisions are commonly used for DKA competitions?
Common planning divisions are Under 6, 7–9, 10–11, 12–13, 14–15 and 16–17, followed by Seniors 18+ and Masters or Veterans 40+. An organiser may combine or adjust divisions according to participation and event rules.
09 Why must age, belt and weight information be accurate?
These details determine safe and fair placement. Incorrect information can delay approval, move the student to another division or cause disqualification under organiser rules.
10 When is the official weigh-in?
The event notice states whether weight is submitted during registration, checked before the event or confirmed at the venue. Students must follow the stated reporting time and weight rules.
11 Who decides whether a student is ready to compete?
The instructor evaluates technique, control, fitness, discipline and event suitability. Registration can be refused or adjusted when participation would not be appropriate or safe.
12 What equipment and documents should competitors bring?
Follow the specific event checklist. It may include Karate Gi, belt, approved protectors, ID or age proof, registration confirmation, water, food, medication and other category-specific equipment.
13 Can an event registration be cancelled?
Use the available cancellation process or contact DKA immediately. Cancellation status, refund or credit depends on the deadline, organiser commitments and event policy.
14 Can parents or spectators attend?
This depends on venue capacity, tickets and organiser rules. Spectators must follow reporting, seating, photography and conduct instructions.
15 How can someone volunteer at a DKA event?
Use the separate volunteer registration process when announced. Roles, reporting time, responsibilities and any event contribution are specific to that event; registering a student does not automatically register a volunteer.

FAQ CATEGORY

Online Training & Digital Access

Online-class preparation, portal access, sibling switching and authorised attendance devices.
01 Does DKA provide online karate classes?
Selected online classes may be available as regular, supplementary or hybrid training. The academy confirms the approved online schedule and joining method.
02 How should I prepare for an online class?
Use a stable device and connection, position the camera so the full body is visible, clear the floor, remove hazards, keep water nearby and join early enough to test sound and video.
03 Is online training safe in a small room?
Only perform movements that fit the clear space and follow the instructor’s modifications. Do not attempt contact work, throws, breaking or large travelling techniques in an unsafe area.
04 How is attendance confirmed online?
Join using the recognised student identity, remain visible when requested and participate throughout the class. Merely opening the meeting link may not qualify as attendance.
05 What information is available in the parent and student portal?
Depending on enabled modules, the portal can show student profiles, attendance, grading readiness, events, registrations, payment or invoice information, announcements and downloadable reports.
06 How do I open the DKA dashboard?
Use the academy-provided login and open the My DKA dashboard. For privacy, do not share account credentials or verification codes.
07 Can one family account show multiple students?
Yes. Approved family records can link siblings to one parent account. Use the student selector to change the active student before reviewing or registering information.
08 What should I do if I cannot log in?
Confirm that you are using the verified email, then use the approved password-reset process. If the account still cannot be accessed, contact DKA without sending your password.
09 Is the offline attendance app for students and parents?
No. It is an operational tool for authorised instructors and approved devices. Parents should use the normal portal or official communication channels to view information.
10 Why might a page look different immediately after a website update?
A browser or performance cache may still hold an older version. Refresh once, close and reopen the page, or try a private window. Report persistent errors with the page address, device and screenshot.

FAQ CATEGORY

Parents, Conduct & Support

Dojo etiquette, communication, safeguarding, privacy, emergency support and feedback.
01 What basic dojo etiquette should students follow?
Arrive prepared, bow appropriately, listen when instruction begins, address instructors respectfully, keep the training area orderly and seek permission before leaving the floor.
02 What behaviour is expected toward training partners?
Practise with control, respect differences in age and ability, stop immediately when instructed and never use karate to threaten, bully or show off.
03 What happens if a student repeatedly disrupts class?
The instructor may warn, pause or remove the student from an activity and discuss the concern with the family. Serious or repeated unsafe conduct can affect participation or membership.
04 How should parents communicate class concerns?
Contact the academy privately rather than interrupting instruction or debating in a public group. Include the student’s name, class and a clear description so the matter can be reviewed fairly.
05 Can parents coach their child from the side?
No. Multiple instructions confuse students and can create safety risks. Parents should encourage effort and allow the appointed instructor to coach during class or competition.
06 How does DKA respond to bullying or harassment?
Report it promptly and privately. DKA expects respectful conduct and will review safety concerns involving students, parents, staff or volunteers. Immediate danger should be reported to the appropriate emergency authority.
07 May DKA take photographs or videos?
Images may be taken for instruction, records, events or academy communication according to the consent provided and applicable rules. Raise any restriction with DKA in writing before the activity.
08 How is personal information used?
Information is used for membership administration, safety, communication, billing, attendance, grading, events and ID cards. Access should be limited to authorised purposes, and families should avoid posting private records publicly.
09 What should I do in a medical emergency?
Inform the instructor or event official immediately and follow emergency directions. DKA may use the registered emergency contact and medical information, but this does not replace professional medical services.
10 How can I contact DKA for an answer not covered here?
Email contact@daskarateacademy.com or call/WhatsApp +91 99 1613 6062. Mention the student name, Student ID if known, dojo and the topic requiring assistance.
